Which analog outputs does Finometer provide?
A. 1 It is possible to define 4 outputs in Finometer e.g.
Finger arterial pressure real time,
Systolic/diastolic/mean pressure and heart rate as beat to beat data.
Derived signals are inter beat interval, stroke volume, cardiac output, peripheral resistance also as beat to beat data.

Mechanically the outputs are BNC connectors, with general available converters you can adapt to 3.5mm phone jacks.

Q. 2 Does the event marker alter ECG recording?
A. 2 The marker signal is only a Portapres or Finometer internal signal recorded together with the internal Portapres or Finometer signals. Thus there is no influence on external (e.g. patient ECG) signals.

Q. 3 What is the minimum pressure change resolution?
A. 3 The sample rate of Finometer and Portarpes is 200Hz. The input voltage range is from -5.12 to +5.12V with a resolution of 2.5mV.

Q. 4 Can your devices be used in MRI?
A. 4 With Finapres and the current devices Portapres and Finometer it is not feasible to measure in the MRI. Among others the main problem is that the control valve in the frontend unit of all these devices is electromagnetic and cannot operate within the high magnetic field.

Q. 5 What was the lowest recording temperature?
A. 5 We have not performed a dedicated study to find out the lowest room temperature at which Finometer still performs well. We expect some loss of accuracy with cold hands for obvious reasons of vasoconstriction, although the effect never has been quantified. We always advise to warm up the hand and lower arm to obtain more stable and successful measurements with our devices such as Finometer and Portapres. As an example, Portapres has been used in high altitude research in the Himalaya with excellent recordings up to and over 5000m height.

Q. 6 Can Modelflow be used in lower ages?
A. 6 This caution statement has been introduced since Modelflow CO has been checked and published against independent other methods (thermodilution, Fick, rebreathing) in subjects over 18 years of age. It may be correct for lower ages, but there is no independent proof as yet. Modelflow CO might be correct in paediatric patients as well, but we do not know until clinical studies have been done and published on the use of Modelflow in lower age ranges.

Q. 7 Do you provide support for Ohmeda Finapres?
A. 7 The Ohmeda Finapres has been out of production and service by Ohmeda for a number of years now. The only replacement parts we have are compatible finger cuffs. Sizes small, medium and large.
We don't have repair manuals or parts for the machine itself. We recommend Finometer Midi as it's successor.
